Meet Dr Chamkaur S. Brar D.V.M
Dr. Chamkaur S. Brar grew up on a small farm in India. In 1981, he completed his Bachelor of Veterinary Science from Punjab Agricultural University, now “Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University” one of the top most universities in the country. He then migrated to the United States in 1989, and completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1992, after completing a one year internship at Tuskegee University in Alabama.
Dr Brar then opened his first practice, the Pine Valley Veterinary Clinic, in 1994. Dr Brar continued to live in Alpine and hoped to move is practice closer to his community, so in 1998, he opened another practice here in Alpine, the Country Pet Clinic. After construction of a new building, he joined the two practices together as today’s Country Pet Hospital in 2000.
Dr Brar, along with being the only veterinarian at Country Pet Hospital, also helps out as a consultant at two other practices; Valley Veterinary Hospital in El Centro and French Valley Veterinary Hospital in Winchester.
He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but ultrasound diagnostics and surgery fascinate him most. Dr Brar has performed hundreds of orthopedic surgeries including many TPLOs (tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy). He continues to expand his vast knowledge of veterinary medicine, learning new surgical techniques and diagnostic methods.
